Error Message - Failed to Register with Application Services

Typically, this means the workstation is not connecting to the file share, or that there are registry entries that are missing or have been deleted, or the user cannot read the registry. Either the logged in (network) user hasn’t been given access to the file share There also could have been an error during the activation process for the Desktop that was either just skipped over or may not have even displayed for whatever process.

If you are sure the user has access, please try to run the activation again. You do this on the workstation by browsing to the server share and the top directory should be Activate. Inside you will find a setup.exe and that will relaunch activation.

If you look in Reg Edit, we are looking for the Connection String Value. It is the name of the ODBC Data Source. It needs to say Suite Desktop.

Note: For Terminal Services it is in the HKEY_LOCAL_USER hive. (We put that info into the user key so that a single Terminal Server can support multiple installations. User A could connect to a different database and share than User B. The only caveat is that both systems MUST be at the same Revision.)

FOR TERMINAL SERVICES USERS:

Rerun the TS User Config for each user receiving the error message. You might need to run TS User Cleanup after that.

If you get an error, please capture an image for us and send it in. If it runs to the end, it should assign a license and the user should be able to log in.

Please let us know your results.
