Think of a Binder as a series of sieves. With each filter, a new sieve is added to refine the search, so that it is easier to narrow down the search results that pass through. Let us now go implement some of the filters we saw previously. If you remember, there were three different types of binders: specific, Configurable, and combination. The specific binder, which is like the one show, already has the topic and item filled in. It is meant for a specific item, project, what have you. This binder only shows documents that…The configurable binder, gives you opportunities to search for different items, and can change every time. This binder shows Documents by Department. The Index items lets you choose which department you wish to index by, and when you search, it will only show documents that have that department index. We can change the selection and reapply the filter as many times as we please. The combination binder combines both the ideas of the specific and the configurable binders together so that some filters are pre-set and some can be changed on the fly. Here we have a binder called Manufacturing/Production Department Documents by Part Number or Process. There are three filters. The preset filter is the Department, which is set to Manufacturing/Production. Then for the other two, since it says OR process as the title, we would leave one blank, and select an index item from the other. Click apply and results will show up like so.
